REM, the famous American rock band based in Athens (Georgia) in 1980 , is back with their new album Collapse into Now, the fifteenth of their careers after a short but intense Accelerate 2008. Collapse into Now, produced by Jacknife Lee (who has worked for and Accelerate U2), was released in Europe on March 7 and 8 in the United States, and consists of 12 songs. Bassist Mike Mills, in an interview with music magazine Spin, said the group " wanted this new album was more extensive. We wanted to put more variety and not just to one type of song. There are really slow and beautiful songs, there are some nice, the average rate, and then there are three or four rock . All twelve songs were written by three members of the group or singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck and Mike Mills, Oh My Heart was co-written with Scott McCaughey, while the last track Blue also worked Patti Smith. REM have also launched the Collapse into Now Film Project, the production and dissemination of videos, made with directors and artists (such as Oscar James Franco and Albert Maysles), for each of the songs from the new album.
