For years I work in Italy. What does this mean? No, not importing wines from Sicily or olive oil from Tuscany. I am involved with Italian culture . A nice "product", one might say. And here starts the al I do not want Italy as "product" approach. At least not in the commercial sense. This is already widespread. The endless repetition of the stereotype: the tower of Pisa, the perpetual espresso, the Tuscan countryside where you undoubtedly half home for sale shortly. The
commerce, the wild marketing, often the wrong people of Italy have made something ugly: a neo-liberal "product" good for the tasteless consumption of the nouveau riche and their clones associated with the dream of a Ferrari. Pasolini would turn in his grave. No, I want nothing to do. With an Italy that is synonymous with conservatism and endless repetition of the same (read: Mannerism).
For years I work (often volunteer) for Foundation Quelli di Astaroth " because here I find a group of people who another Italy wants to show. The Italy of today, where people not only with the Colosseum, Renaissance and mozzarella busy. The theater of our Foundation for example, plays by Stefano Benni and Edoardo Erba but also to acts inspired futurism / Dadaism. Our radio broadcasts interviews with Dario For, Frans Weisz and Rudi Fuchs.
The two editions of the festival "Cinemissimo" of documentaries and feature films, never before in the Netherlands.

Finally Scuola d'Italia . An education which I am personally very proud of. Language with a communicative approach where students "really" listening and talking. Not only grammar and exercises, but the living language . None stereotypical fashion and expensive design, but learned the language by modern media and contemporary literature. No ready-made method, but tailor-made lessons focusing on small groups of students.
